Romainian Emergency Aid & Community Help
WELCOME
Our Beginnings - 1991.
OUR BEGINNINGS – REACH has been supporting various groups in different parts of Romania for over 30 years. Comprising of local volunteers the UK charity was formed in 1991, when members of the emergency services in Skegness, Lincolnshire took aid to the very poor parts of Romania. The transporting of aid increased year on year, with articulated lorries taking aid including building material, bikes, clothes, mattresses, food and toys to orphanages and children’s camps. Also supplying much needed medical aid to hospitals and orphanages in Romania. However, because of Romania joining the EU in 2007, there are now major restrictions placed on imports of aid. This is due to Romania now needing to increase its manufacturing output, and also reduce unemployment.
Because of this, the emphasis at REACH had to be re-evaluated.
Sunlight Centre is situated in the Danube Delta area (Dunavatu de Jos, Tulcea County, Romania). Raza SoareluiSunlight is the only charity organization in an isolated, perspective limited area. The majority of the local community consists of fishermen that lately have to deal with poor fish catch and among the schools of Dunava and Murighiol we have noticed many children from underprivileged families that have consistently scored very low on school tests and are at risk of school drop out.
SUNLIGHT HOLIDAY CAMP
INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-WORTH
The campsite at Danube Delta originated in 1992. it’s purpose is to promote a holiday environment and activities for underprivileged Romanian children. However It does a lot more, by promoting the children’s independence and self-worth, demonstrating team working. Learning to respect themselves and others.
About Our Work
Sunlight Center is situated in the Danube Delta area ( Dunavatu de Jos, Tulcea County, Romania). Raza Soarelui-Sunlight is the only charity organization in an isolated, perspective limited area. The majority of the local community consists of fishermen that lately have to deal with poor fish catch and among the schools of Dunavat and Murighiol we have noticed many children from underprivileged families that have consistently scored very low on school tests and are at risk of school drop out.
Over the years REACH has supported this work in practical ways. REACH volunteer’s have visited annually carrying out building work and improving the camps facilities. We have sent shoe boxes containing treats for the children who have so little, and we constantly fund raise so equipment can be purchased locally to help with the camps upkeep.
In recent years we have been able to sponsor a time at the camp for disabled children. These children take part in various activities, stimulating them by music, craft workshops, cooking, games and fishing.
Members of REACH pay their own transport costs, and constantly fund raise to give money to help with materials, build extensions to the camps. Also to help fund the purchasing of vital equipment for the camp.

LATEST NEWS
2022, November 11
Dear Friends,
Good news from the fall break!
This year students from primary and middle school years had their first-ever autumn break at the end of October! Since autumn was mild this year, we planned a trip to Cheile Dobrogei and Constanța for the children from Dunavaț, Agighiol and Murighiol. 33 children from the Sunlight Center program and 5 chaperones enjoyed a day trip where we tried to make up for not being able to take them to a camp during the summer holidays. We thank those of you who took care of the logistics, those who contributed financially and to the parents who gave us all their support and trust! We were incredibly blessed with an exceptionally beautiful, bright, summer-like day! Our first stop was at Cheile Dobrogei where we ate EVERYTHING Mrs Elisabeth had prepared for us. We then went up the hills where we took photos and enjoyed a wonderful autumn view! We headed to Constanța in a good mood and we reached our destination at the Museum of Natural Sciences. There was something to discover there for kids of all ages. The little ones were excited to see the animals and birds gathered together. The pre-teens and teens have enriched their knowledge or, as the case may be, have found a good place to rest at the Planetarium, since the lights were off anyway! Watching the presentation about the stars and planets was a pretty cool experience for most of us!
The Dolphinarium was, by far, the highlight of our trip! The dolphin show was quite unique, led by some extraordinarily skilled trainers! We were happy to see the kids enjoying the show in an engaging way!
McDonald’s, strategically located near this location, was the place most kids really looked forward to go to! We ended our trip with a brief encounter with the Black Sea! If we hadn’t stopped the kids, they would have been ready to go in the water, but the evening gets cold so we took them to the bus and returned back home Hopefully they all had something nice to share with their parents! We are grateful to God for this special day, a beautiful gift!
Thank you for your prayers and help, God Bless you!
